VOLUSIA COUNTY COUNCIL TO CUT RIBBON FOR DEBARY AVENUE BYPASS

DeBary, Fl (July 22, 2010) –

The public is invited to a ribbon cutting ceremony for the DeBary Avenue bypass at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 31. The ceremony will be across from the Temple Baptist Church, 732 DeBary Ave., Deltona.

Officials will be present from the Volusia County Council, the cities of DeBary and Deltona, Florida Department of Transportation, Enterprise Preservation Society and the Florida United Methodist Children’s Home.

The $12.1 million project, which began in April 2008, was funded by Volusia County Government and the Florida Department of Transportation. The two-mile, four-lane bypass runs from Providence Boulevard to Deltona Boulevard, alleviating traffic in historic Enterprise. A new asphalt segment of the Spring-to-Spring Trail runs along the bypass.

Before the bypass opened earlier this month, DeBary Avenue was the most heavily traveled two-lane road in Volusia County.
