Deltona, FL. (November 21, 2009) -

The weeklong Deltona Days event wrapped up with a parade down Deltona Boulevard as local citizens lined the streets to see their favorite marching band as Deltona is truly honored to have several. Many of the local youth dance clubs and civic associations participated including the local schools as they all celebrated Deltona’s 47th Birthday.

City of Deltona out did itself as Mr. and Mrs. Claus, that’s right, the Jolly old fat man himself was there to greet the young and the young at heart with a dozen elves as they collected letters to Santa from all the children, as they handed out candy and greeted the onlookers. This was the first year that children were be able to have interaction with Santa Claus and the City hopes to keep this as a new tradition for the City’s annual Birthday Celebration event.

Deltona Day Parade commemorated Deltona’s 47th birthday…  marking the City’s first start as an unincorporated community in 1963 as was sponsored by the Deltona Civic Association.  A parade wouldn’t be complete without the local elected officials as Congressman John L. Mica, County Councilwomen Pat Northey, Mayor Mulder, Vice Mayor McFall-Conte and Commissioners Zischkau, Deyette, Carmolingo, Truesch and Denizac all had the opportunity to partake in the celebrations.
